there were only six pople who dared to participate in jurs birthday alley cat. where was everybody else? it didn't even rain and you didn't heve to travel all the way to knsm to be able to race. this is dissapointing. next time i want to see more people!
but back to yesterdays race: start and finish at jur's place, six checkpoints (valeriusterras, leidseplein, belamystraat, heemstedestraat, churchilllaan, corn. anthoiszstraat en vondelstaat - see map), 10 guilders entry fee winner takes it all. before you were allowed to race off you had to blow up a balloon till it exploded. needless to say nobody succeeded in doing so and all sorts of cheap tricks were used to get them balloons killed. if i would have been race marshal i would have disqualified everybody right away that would have saved a lot of useless pedaling - 50% of the racers were disqualified after the race because they could not read properly (kees, paul) or plain cheating (mirjam) - and kamaal's tire would have been saved as well (probably).
vis was the first one to finish and took all the money, kees and paul who came in 2nd and 3rd were disqualified.
